Is your vehicle nearing the end of its life and you want to sell it so you can get something new before you have a big mechanical problem? Do you need to get the most money out of the car that you possibly can? If so, there are some things you want to do before you try to sell it.

You want the car to look and drive as well as it possibly can when someone comes to test drive it. Here are a few different things you'll want to consider before you list it for sale.

New Tires

New tires are going to make the car look a lot better on the outside, and they are going to help the vehicle drive smoother. If you don't want to spend the money on four new tires, or you don't have the money for brand new tires, get used tires that still have a majority of the tread but are offered for less because they are used. Have a tire service balance and rotate the tires put on so the car handles well.

Pay for Detailing

An interior detailing service will remove all the odors from the car, take out the light or heavy stains that are all over the carpeting or other upholstery, and leave the car looking new and smelling clean. You may even want to replace the floor mats in the vehicle. Exterior detailing is also great if you don't want to take the time to wash and wax the car on your own, because they can buff out minor scratches.

Tune it Up

Pay for a tune-up so all the fluids in the car look clean and full when a potential buyer pulls out a dipstick. The tune-up can also prevent warning lights from popping on while the buyer is doing a test drive out on the roads with the vehicle. Hand the buyer the paperwork for the tune-up so they can see they shouldn't need to get it serviced for at least 3 months or 3,000 miles. You may need to work with a company like Jafstram Imported Car Service if you drive a Honda or Mercedes instead of a Ford or Chevy.

If you have to get rid of your car and you are worried that no one is going to buy it because it's getting old, here are a few things you can do to make the car appear in good condition and reliable. Compare the cost of others listed through auto sites and local dealerships to come up with a price.
